Snowy Commute, originally uploaded by ducksRfriends.

I tried to get a shot of the beautiful snow covered trees and the rest of the winter wonderland from the train, but unfortunately my phone just blurred it all….
The roads were full of snow, commuters bundled and well booted, the shuttle warm and the driver ( <3 Leon! Best driver ever) friendly.

Now, stuffed from a delicious dinner at Lucky 13, going to watch Resident Evil (so delightfully cheesy!) drink port and knit. Not a bad way to wrap up a snowy non-snow-day.

snow day

Its been snowing and/or sleeting all day. Work was closed (yay snow day!) and though I tried to be productive anyway, its tough when you have a nice warm blanket to curl up in. That said, Chris and I set up the shelves I bought a few weeks ago, and I finally organized the basement and set up a work area. Once I get my sewing machine back from NJ (and the dreaded window blanket project) I’m all set for marathon sewing projects. I cleared off the table we have (which previously stored soda, beer, records and fabric), and organized my fabric into clear bins. I should have taken some before and after photos, but honestly, its a basement, so even all set up it still doesn’t look great. Once I get a power strip for down there I’ll set up some extra lights and try to make it look a little more cozy. Then maybe I’ll share some photos. The great part is that the table is the perfect height for working, as opposed to the coffee table in the living room. Great for propping your feet, but little else.

Hope everyone is being safe in the snow and having fun!

The snow just kept coming and coming….. tomorrow morning will be a subway ride, but the weekend was at least lovely. Being snowed in was a great way to actually get some work done on the presents I have to finish by next weekend…. I’m dying to post photos, but they’ll have to wait till after everything is gifted.
Off to sew……..

Mini snowman

Yesterday was so warm, I only wore my sweatshirt to go get lunch. Now there is enough snow to make a snowman. (Mine is mini, but only because I was the only one building it, and thats not as much fun). Goodness gracious, perhaps the groundhog was right. Drat.

Snowy night Jan 27

Definitely not in LA anymore…. a fine layer of powdery snow all over everything… It will probably be gone by mid-day tomorrow, but it reminds me all the same that it is winter. Does this mean I have to wake up early tomorrow to shovel the walk? The snow is falling lightly and glittery, quite lovely actually. I’m off to watch some cheesy British tv and plan out my sewing marathon for tomorrow night. I’m doing the punk-rock flea market with Angie, and as yet I have nothing to sell. I have until Sunday… time to dive into “The Big Book of Soft Toys” for some easy, fun and cute patterns. Maybe I’ll actually use up some of the mass amount of fabric I have downstairs! And if I sell anything I make, even better.
