fail

This weekend I finally picked up the Hew sweater I’d had hibernating. It was so close, just the collar to finish. Thats a little deceiving, though, because I think its the third or fourth time I’ve tried to knit up the collar. I don’t know what I did wrong, but it would not lie properly, and just looked awful. I’m not really one for half sweater/shrugs anyway… I like them in concept, but in reality they’re just far too top heavy for me. So I suppose it was a doomed project from the start. I frogged it all last night. But now I have an unknown amount of a wonderful yarn, and no idea what to make with it. Its Lousia Harding, wool/silk…. my Rav stats say I have 3 skeins = 330.0 yards (301.8 m), but I’m not sure how updated that is. That isn’t very much, and since I bought it over a year ago I doubt I could find more at the LYS…. I think I have another skein rolling around somewhere upstairs, I’m going to do some serious searching this afternoon. This yarn is just gorgeous, and I really want to make something with it that I’ll love and wear all the time. Any ideas?

now what?

So it seems to finally be spring. Of course, the spring coat I bought is already broken…. (that will teach me to buy a $20 coat and expect it to have a sturdy zipper). I’m going to try adding some buttons to it instead…

The last few days have been miserable, cold and rainy, but fun anyway. I’ve been getting together with the rag tag girls a lot lately, preppng for our two performances coming up. I worked on the straps of my coin-bra today, but I need to replace them with longer straps…. Also had to take out the collar of the Hew wrap I’m working on… I somehow screwed it up and have to re-do the whole thing. Hasn’t been a very goo crafty week for me, but hopefully I’ll get what I need done by the performance.

I had a wonderfully productive weekend, despite this stupid cold. Friday had some beer-week bar hopping. I got myself a cool shirt with a hippo on it from Riverhorse (good brewing company in Lambertville, NJ). It took me a while to go up to the guy and ask for one, it wasn’t like they were giving them out, I just saw that the bartender had one and though it was really cute. I’m glad I actually talked to the guy, cause he gave me a shirt, no problem! And then we got in an awkward conversation about baking and nutella, and I hightailed it back to my side of the bar.

Saturday was an editing marathon, again. I’m chipping away at the doc that I’m working on. Progress is slow but steady. Later, Angie came over and I showed her how to use her sewing machine. I also finished the fringe belt to send off to Alexis, altered a shirt to be smaller and started on the coin bra I’m making. Whew!

Sunday, editing again. But also some fighting with my iTunes- I finally got a little self-powered hard drive to put my extra music on, and had to figure out how to get it to work as a shared user library…. Went grocery shopping, edited for a few hours, worked more on the coin bra and finally cast on the ties of the Hew wrap I’m working on. Also made 4 new flower/feather combs, three as gifts, one for me. Packaged off all the things I need to send out in the mail today.

Took nyquil to kill my cold, woke up in a shaky haze this morning… but what a weekend!

(I may post some photos when I get home- took some of the bar on friday when a Magic Hat sideshow promotional thing was happening and people swallowed swords… couldn’t get a good shot of the bra or fringe belt though. Forgot to take shots of the combs. Oh well.)

Yum yum yum yum. Laura (creator of the Obama cake for the election party) decided to make sushi for our darts party this past saturday. (Yeah, I really like themed parties). No one got hurt, so I’d call it a successful party. I had a bit of a misunderstanding, I thought Laura was coming over to my house to make the sushi. I got so excited! The last time I made sushi was so much fun! Although, I’m sure it was half the company half the food. Anyway, she made it at her place and brought it over in a clever tupperware container. Still tasty.

On a crafty note, I’m getting further along my Hew wrap top.. but its not quite photogenic yet (although I’ll probably post a photo anyway). I’m pretty sure I’m going to need another ball or two of yarn to finish it out, though. I need to get back to the LYS soon, because its all hand painted yarn, and I hope whatever is left will mostly match.
Its getting warm, which makes me happy. And the snow has melted which is lovely for the daily commute.
The troupe of girls that I dance with (we’re calling ourselves some variation of ragtag tribal) is performing this Sunday. Hopefully I’ll have some nice photos of us not looking terrified to post. :-)
