My sister has a book out and I couldn’t be more proud.

From Alexis:

Though many of you have probably already heard this from me, I’d like to officially announce the publication of my chapbook, Letters Through Glass. Finishing Line Press, an award winning small press located in Kentucky, has chosen my collection to be part of their 2009 releases. They are doing pre-sales right now and the pre-sales dictate the final press run. The pre-sale ($12 plus $1 shipping in the US) runs through January 9th, and the book will be shipped February 20th.

Here are some lovely blurbs written about this collection:

Letters Through Glass is luminous and haunting, and also heartbreaking. Vergalla’s poems are as visually glittering as a colored mosaic in the sun, and as quietly urgent as a whispered reverie.

-Kate Durbin, author of The Ravenous Audience

Alexis Vergalla’s epistolary suite, with which this chapbook opens, introduces her resonant concerns: how to bridge distance and longing, loss and recovery, consciousness and identity.  The nature of memory and language, too, lie at the heart of her inquiries–how they both serve and fail us, sometimes simultaneously.  Lyrical, wise, and beautifully articulated, these are poems that quicken the pulse, ever mindful of our mortal wounds and poetry’s redemptive powers.
-Maurya Simon
